I have always been a fit girl, but I was injured and life happened, and I gained about 30 lbs over the last two years. I decided that I had been hiding my body under loose-fitting clothes for too long- I wanted to shed off shame.
When I met Scarlett, I knew that there was no one else that I wanted to do that with! Shortly after I met her, I felt like she actually cared about my well-being. I felt so comfortable with her. And during our shoot, I felt so sexy - I felt like I was a professional model - I felt so beautiful, and then suddenly during our shoot I realized, ‘Oh my God, I am beautiful!’ It was truly a great experience, and I feel very blessed.
I was so excited when I was approached with the opportunity to be a part of this shoot. It is something I have always wanted to do, but never thought I would feel comfortable doing. When I spoke with Scarlett, she was warm and inviting from the moment we discussed this project over the phone. This shoot sounded like an amazing opportunity that I could not pass up!
In person, Scarlett made me feel more relaxed than I could ever imagine. Her positive energy flowed into mine, and together, I felt like we created some amazing pictures.
I loved working with Scarlett for this photoshoot. Her calm demeanor and excitement for the shoot made me so comfortable and excited. I'm a huge advocate of women owning their sexuality, and doing a shoot like this is very empowering and a huge step toward that ownership.
Seeing beautiful photos of yourself really helps to see ourselves in another way and forgive our flaws. I am a survivor of rape and sexual assault, and every time I show my body through a photograph, I am reminded that I am the only owner of this body and it is a powerful structure that is worth love and fighting for.
I honestly wouldn't change a thing about the day, it was the best.
